Query
I want to know why Youtube doesn’t have the first portion of any episode of Salute Your Shorts. There are videos of the second and third parts of certain episodes, but I can’t locate any videos of “Episode __, Part 1.” Does anyone know why this may be the case? Does it have to do with the theme song?

A Nomination for the Christmas Music Canon
Christmas Music 2011 Day 26 “Olive” by El Fog I hereby nominate the song “Olive” by El Fog to be included in the canon of Christmas music. The whole album is perfect for sitting cozy inside your house in a cold, winter night, but this song in particular has a Christmas-y feel to it. I don’t have an mp3 of this song (if someone does, could you send it to me?), but I...

An Open Letter to All Christmas Light...
Look: I’m not an electrician. Nor do I claim to be someone that can construct a light bulb. I’m not even sure if I know how a light bulb works. But I do how unbelievably inconvenient it is when one bulb goes out and causes every other bulb on a string of bulbs to flicker and short. There has got to be a way to make a string of Christmas lights that aren’t all dependent on each other to work. If I...

Listverse's 15 Greatest Composers of All Time →
Some things are very, very impressive. For instance, “[Franz] Liszt sightread Grieg’s Piano Concerto, playing it perfectly the first time he saw the music.” However, some things are incredible: “Bach … improvised fugues for 2 hours at a stretch, and then wrote them down from memory afterward.” Of course there are a hundred other hyperbolic (but true) assertions and...

This is a visual approximation of what I looked like for about 95% of the past two weeks.
I have finally finished my final research paper of my college career and now I can finally relax and start studying for finals (a cakewalk in comparison). While writing these dozens upon dozens of pages, I lost countless hours of sleep, worked myself into exhaustion,...

HBO has had some problems adapting great works of fiction in the past (I, of course, am referring to this disaster), but I assume this will be great.

THIS JUST IN: In what is becoming an increasingly astonishing trend these past few months, Neon Trees have cured another local resident of his sickness. Local boy, Matthew Towles, age 22, had been sick since yesterday, battling a case of the flu he picked up over the weekend. “I think I just worked myself into exhaustion,” Towles said. “My body must have just shut itself down and the disease took...
