#247 - Eric Serra - The Goldeneye Overture
aw man. between 1998 and 2001 I was properly massively obsessed with James Bond. This is probably taken from the best film, and this particular piece the opening facility scene. This guy also did the Leon soundtrack apparently. Uhhhhhh
Nothing is as ingrained in my mind from GoldenEye 64 as those hollow, echoed drum sounds. The Wikipedia article for the game notes that the in-game music was described as “addictive” at the time of its release. I never thought of it that way, but it’s totally right on. I don’t think I’ve heard much before or since quite as unique as the game’s (and the movie’s) soundtrack. It’s just so weird.
